FOCUS
We focus on local juvenile and adult corrections systems
and direct our efforts toward working with the people
who manage them to assist with the development of competent
corrections personnel; the design and construction of
quality jails and juvenile detention facilities; the
promotion of sound security, health and safety practices;
and the administration of appropriate correctional programming.
PLANNING
Our planning supports and guides
the Corrections Standards Authority, enhances the mission of the
operating programs, and sets future direction. The planning
process keeps descriptions of our purpose and ever-changing
activities current, accurate, realistic, and in concert
with our everyday actions.
QUALITY
We strive for continual improvement
in our quality of action, technical assistance, and
financial support and service.
ENVIRONMENT
We foster an environment of openness
and trust where:
- Self management and skills development
are encouraged;
- Actions reinforce the belief
people can and will perform responsibly;
- Innovation and new ideas are
the norm;
- Authority and responsibilities
are delegated to the lowest practical level; and
- Prudent risk-taking and decisive
actions are promoted.
TEAM WORK
We strive to work constructively
and cooperatively with each other and with people from
all sectors who are involved in or responsible for local
corrections across California while encouraging significant
participation and involvement by all. We seek out opportunities
to enter team efforts that enhance the Corrections Standards Authority'
goals.
COMMUNICATIONS
We share useful and valued information
throughout the organization and with our constituency
so that everyone understands how their involvement relates
to the success of the otherwise uniquely individual
local corrections communities in California.
RECOGNITION
We recognize achievements and performance
consistent with Corrections Standards Authority' principles, mission,
and goals in a manner that is recognized and appreciated
by the recipients.
